Laurent and his family run a 150,000 Chicken operation. In 2023, he replaced an older 6M BTU Woodchip boiler that he had purchased in 2009. It was causing a lot of downtime due to maintenance issues.  It was also lacking modulation capacity due to its design.  During the warm summer months, the old boiler would overheat regularly.

Laurent has a propane backup system which was being used quite often during all the periods of maintenance. He estimates his propane costs were between $60-100,000 in a season.

With the new Heizomat boilers his goal is to eliminate his propane usage entirely. Currently he is burning ground up wood waste materials which are delivered to his farm.  His family owns a woodlot nearby that benefits from regular maintenance. Waste wood materials such as treetops and non-commercial timber will make another good fuel source for him.
